Inception is a movie created with elements from the genres of science fiction and action adventure. The story revolves around a team of unusual thieves who work for organizations or individuals to change the memories people have or to extract pieces of information. The lead character of this team is Dom Cobb who is played by Leonardo DiCaprio. The team is hired by a Japanese businessman looking to change the course of events about to take place. A powerful man who controls energy commerce is on his death bed, but has a son who is likely to take over control of the company. The objective is to program the son's mind to work in favor of the Japanese businessman. The process by which the team connects with the subject's mind is through the dream state. They find a way to drug their subject to induce a state of deep sleep where they can enter into their thoughts. The movies plays out with the deeper levels of consciousness used to create very realistic environments complete with armed assassins. The task of reprogramming the son's mind requires the team to go to levels of consciousness they have not attempted to penetrate before. Basically, they create a dream within a dream and take it one level further by creating one more dream state. At every level of the dream state, time slows down to where the team can have weeks to accomplish a goal which is actually taking place in real time in a matter of minutes. On each level of the dream state the team faces different perils which include creating a way to “wake up” before their time limit runs out. The catch to working in the dream state is that if a person dies in the altered state of consciousness they also die in reality. This adds to the excitement of the movie because the son's dream state creates assassins who are trying to protect him. The storyline of the movie contains a story within a story itself. The underlying story revolves around Dom Cobb and his wife, who committed suicide several years earlier. Cobb was accused of murder due to the unusual circumstances of her death. Through flashback memories the story of what happened with Cobb and his wife unfolds the amidst the drama of their assignment. The ending of the movie is one that leaves the viewer in a state of question as to whether or not it is real. Inception is an Action, Science Fiction, Adventure movie that was released in 2010. I had the privilege of seeing this movie before it came out, and, like most of DiCaprio's films, it blew me away.
Inception is a well-made movie, filmed in about 6 locations all over the world. The directing was outstanding, there were only about two moments, maybe three seconds in total, where i noticed that visual effects were being used (of course defying gravity is pretty difficult.
The plot was very pleasingly intricate, with a twist-and-turn, keep-you-on-the-edge-of-your-seat type feel. I noticed that this film had similarities with DiCaprios thriller Shutter Island (which i also enjoyed very much)seeing as it left you wondering what was real and what was not. It's great to see a movie with a thick and emotional plot and not just grenade-throwing action heroes who achieve greatness in the end.
Inception also has a very well-composed score, which to me was the finishing touch to a perfect movie. If you're thinking about seeing Inception, definitely go! Even though i was fortunate enough to see a free show, it is worth every penny you pay.
Truly unique, like nothing i've ever seen before. Christopher Nolan certainly covered new ground with this film and wasn't afraid to leave us hanging with a spectacular ending.

Visually the cinematography was excellent. The story was weak and I am shocked how many people are giving this 10 stars. 8 people I worked with saw this and only 1 liked it. This is two weird movies in a row made by Leonardo DiCaprio.
I feel like Nolan is just revamping parts of Memento, Batman, Dark Knight etc to his movies. The ending credits are the same for every movie. He put in a fortress in the snow like the fortress in the beginning of Batman Returns. And what about that snow? It's like he just wanted to say let's film in the snow! He is actually stealing a lot of this from other movies and getting the credit for this being an original movie. This movie is Ocean's Eleven meets The Island. I was very disappointed.
